I was at an Eric Church concert last Friday night with my family when he played the song “Three Year Old.” Before he sang, he talked about his two boys at home and how much they have taught him. As I listened to his lyrics, I couldn’t help but think of how much we have forgotten that we knew when we were young. We've forgotten how to do some of the simplest things....
*We forgot that we could make any situation fun.
*We gave hugs freely because we needed one or we thought someone else did.
*We smiled without hesitation.
*We loved everybody without judgment.
*We wanted to be friends with everyone.
*We always cheered each other on and wanted everyone to win.
*We knew how to say we were sorry and mean it.
*We knew how to forgive and forget easily.
*We knew how to comfort those around us who might be sad. We picked a flower, drew a picture, or gave a hug. *We never held back an “I love you” or “I think you look pretty.” *We weren’t afraid to make mistakes. And when we made mistakes, we just tried again.
Makes you wonder what else we forgot we knew when we were 3 years old...
